As we continue to explore spring, both the three year old and four year old classes will be studying the world of insects. Our butterfly larvae arrive soon. We are excited to watch the transformation of our caterpillars into butterflies! The rest of the month will have the three year old classes exploring farm life while the four year old classes will look at life around the pond. Our special day this month will be “Jersey Day” on May 25th/26th. Wear a jersey/t-shirt/hat from your own team or your favourite team.
We are excited to hold our first ever Mom’s Nights at Tot Spot. Mom’s Nights will be held on Tuesday, May 16th (6:30-8:00) for T/Th am classes and all pm classes, and Wednesday, May 17th (6:30-8:00) for all MWF am classes. Bring mom (or another special adult if mom is unable to attend) for a fun-filled evening. Students do not attend school during the day they have Mom’s Night. Please make arrangements for siblings as it gets very crowded!
With the arrival of warmer weather, please remember that your child still needs to be wearing appropriate footwear for our gym activities. Flip flops are unsuitable for many of our activities.
As mentioned last month, you can now order books from Scholastic and have them shipped to the school to avoid shipping fees. The May book order (the last one of the year) is available online at Digital Catalogues | Classroom Essentials Scholastic Canada. We will have paper copies available for you as soon as they arrive. The deadline for orders is May 25th. We will be placing an additional order May 5th for anyone that needs items sooner.
We have had a lot of positive feedback about Dad’s Night and many of you have requested information about our “mad scientist”. Microscope Mark (a former Tot Spot parent) is available for birthday parties and other events as well. He can be booked through www.calgary.madscience.org.
If anyone is still interested in a Tot Spot t-shirt with your child’s handprints on, we have a few available from previous years (yellow or orange) for $10.00. Please let your child’s teacher know if you’d like one.

June 20th – Last day of school celebrations for T/Th am classes and all afternoon classes.
June 21st – Last day of school celebrations for MWF am classes. PLEASE NOTE: Students arrive at their regular time on the last day of school. Parents (and other special guests) are invited to join us for our celebration. The program begins at 9:15 for am classes and 1:15 for pm classes, and lasts about 45 minutes. Students will be dismissed at the end of the celebrations. If you will be leaving on vacation before the last day of classes, please let your child’s teacher know.
